Last 1 March, Repsol started the multiannual maintenance stop in the plant of Puertollano (Ciudad Real), which is aimed at checking the equipment, conducting maintenance works and executing several technical improvements. The stop will last around 50 days and will be funded with an investment of 28 million Euros.

Grúas y Transportes Gil, S.A. becomes a limited liability company and changes its name for EUROGRUAS OCCIDENTAL, S.L.U., as part of the globalisation process the trademark is embarked on, and as EUROGRUAS VALERIANO (Grúas Valeriano) had done before and, this year, EUROGRUAS ORIENTAL (Grúas Alhambra).

EUROGRUAS, through its Heavy Lift Division, has taken part in the expansion of the AVE’s railway between Seville and Almeria, crawling and sliding the central span of a metallic bridge 97.2 m long, 13.2 m large, 19.5 m high and 650 t.

EUROGRUAS’ Board of Directors has approved the change of name for Grúas Alhambra, S.L.U. From 1 January, it will be called EUROGRUAS ORIENTAL, S.L.U.
The branch will keep on offering cranes, special transports and tower cranes for rental at its offices, all over the province of Granada (Loja, Guadix, Baza and Peligros) and Malaga.

At the end of 2007, Escal UGS assigned the Castor project to UTE Casgas Off-Shore, regarding the construction of a warehousing plant of Gas Natural, taking advantage of the geological morphology existing under the Mediterranean Sea, located at more than 1,750 metres deep and 21 km from the Vinaròs coast (Castellón). Gas Natural’s underwater warehouse was mainly aimed at improving the efficiency and security of the Spanish gas system.

Iberdrola Ingeniería y Construcción assigned to itself the construction of a combined cycle plant in the town of Elektranai (Lithuania), with the capacity to generate 440 MW and a planned investment of 330M EUR.
The works started in September 2009 and were supposed to last 3 years, assigning to EUROGRUAS the unloading, internal transport and placement of the main equipment over the bedplates, which weighed up to 342 tons.
