History

History

The origins of GRUPO EUROGRUAS go back to the history of its six founding partners, crane and special transport rental firms from Andalusia and Murcia which started their operations in the 60s and 70s, on the one hand, as far as Grúas Alhambra, Grúas y Transportes Gil, Grúas Raimundo and Grúas Valeriano are concerned, and in the 80s and 90s, on the other hand, as far as Grúas Bahía and Invergrúas are concerned.

These six companies, all of them leaders in their respective local markets, decided to join their efforts in 1997, in order to become a firm specialised in heavy cranes and special transports, back then particularly those of concrete-prefabricated elements, at national level, to which the management of cranes over 100 T of capacity and transport equipment was added. This way, EUROGRUAS 2000 was born.

EUROGRUAS 2000 purchased its first own crane that year, a DEMAC AC 1600 model, a 500-ton telescopic crane. The second one was a 600-ton lattice boom crawler crane –a DEMAG CC 2800- which arrived two years later, in 1999. Both vehicles were the first in Spain to have this capacity, particularly the lattice crane, which allowed EUROGRUAS 2000 to gain the necessary quality to become one of the first-ranking national companies.

In 1999, these partners decided to add a complement to the rental of cranes and special transports, so they set up EUROPLATAFORMAS 2000, a company specialised in renting unmanned aerial work platforms. Nowadays, it has become a firm of reference in Andalusia, Extremadura and Murcia. The joint expansion of their activities continued over the following years, opening branches in Madrid and Extremadura. In 2003, they decided to start operating internationally, and established themselves in Morocco, purchasing a small local company which traded with cranes. Now, EUROGRUAS MAROC leads the mobile-crane rental business in the country.

In 2008, the partners took another step, uniting all their companies under Eurogruas Holding Corporativo, which became one of the biggest European firms in the sector.

Convinced of the fact that planned geographical diversification is an essential asset to keep on growing and evolving, EUROGRUAS makes its break in two other countries: Brazil in 2009 and Angola in 2010.

As part of the strategy aimed at becoming a company specialised in Heavy-Lift services at global level, EUROGRUAS acquired ALTON SAED in 2005, a firm specialised in lifting engineering and execution of lifting projects, and transportation of extra-heavy loads with alternative systems.

Subsequently, in 2007 and 2008, it incorporated a 1,350-ton lattice crawler crane - LIEBHERR LR 11350- and SPMT – Self Propeller Modular Trailers.
