UTE Río Ulla, composed of Dragados and Tecsa, entrusted EUROGRUAS with the heavy-lifting works in Catoira’s spur, during the construction of the bridge belonging to the High-Speed Atlantic Corridor (rail corridor along the Atlantic coast of Galicia), and which will go over river Ulla near the mouth of Ría de Arousa.
The lattice crawler crane Terex Demag CC2800-1 was the machine selected to conduct these works, which involve the extraction of voussoirs or bridge segments from the assembly warehouse, their gathering and subsequent assembly, as well as their transport with sliding systems
The assembly of the structure started last 18 October, lifting the first voussoir, weighting 310 tons and the maneuver met all of the client’s expectations.
This colossal work in which the central-span deck has been designed as a mixed, variable-depth lattice will set a world record in untrussed main spans, exceeding in 20% de current record (bridge in Germany).
